So, you might have noticed that the UPJ Geology department basically disappeared for the summer.   Students went off to work, go to field camp, and have fun at the beach.   The professors tried to get some research done, taught a few classes, and attempted to re-organize some of our teaching spaces.   But now, summer has passed, and today marks the beginning of the fall semester.

This semester, Igneous & Metamorphic Petrology will be blogging for extra credit.   The class is designated as “Speaking Enhanced”, so the students will be focusing more on their presentation skills then on writing.

I will also try to post on the papers we are reading in petrology and where our discussions take us, but no promises!
