Coral reefs are beautiful and important to our world. Not only are they amazing to snorkel in they protect the coast from high wave erosion and they filter the water. The reef structures are full of life and that is not unknown to the world, many fisherman and other people understand that and are exploiting it. Mass fishing in the reefs are a huge problem, life is depleting and reefs are being ruined. Also tourism is a cause of pollution and ruining the reefs, being that reef tourism brings in an estimated $30 billion, there is no doubt that there could be some destruction of coral reefs. Another problem that is destroying the reefs is the increase in green house gases. The oceans are rising in temperature and acidity and this is causing a slower growth of the reefs. With protection groups forming there is more awareness on these reefs and they will hopefully have more of a chance of survival that will hopefully lead to a long life of coral reefs that we can all enjoy during our lifetime.
