Indeed we have. Yeah its funny you mentioned "The Whaleback" considering I live only about 10 miles as the crow flies away from it and my finest tree bark fossils came right off the anticline itself. I'm assuming you've met the infamous Centralia as well?

Hello,

I found your blog while looking back in the memory banks. I went to the same field camp. Was great then too. Our Wind River trip got shortened due to a blizzard. I imagine the camp hasnt changed much since 1998. Hope you enjoyed it. Also I know the picture at the top page as the whaleback, in PA. looks like we have tromped over the same rocks.

I think it would be worth mentioning that if you look at the display case right outside Krebs Room 252 you will see a nice sample of gold. Just FYI.

I noticed a lot of mineral posts, and wondered what the assignment was. (I also noticed a lot of Chuck Norris.)

Happy end of semester to all of you!

And even in real cities you can find such names. There's an area with <a href="http://maps.google.de/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=de&geocode=&q=berlin,+asbestweg&sll=52.422758,13.413126&sspn=0.009081,0.019526&ie=UTF8&ll=52.421005,13.411882&spn=0.009082,0.019526&z=16" rel="nofollow">rock and mineral streets in Berlin</a>. (I hope the link comes out alright – there's no preview.)

Besides the usual suspects (Quartz, Fieldspar and Mica Lane, Sandstone Lane, Amber Ring,…) there are some odd ones, like Asbestos Lane. (Who wants to live there?)

I didn't find Xenotime there, though.
