On march 11, 2001 an 8.9 earthquake hit about 80 miles off of the coast of Honshu, Japan. This quake, one of the largest in the world and the largest in Japan, of course caused great havoc. The death toll rose to about 1,600 and there are still people missing. The tsunami that occurred hours later was expected to be huge and cause a lot of damage and it did just that. This quake caused a lot of damage and the price just continues to climb along with the death toll, and this is just a terrible thing to happen to a country and you hope that everyone is alright. Being that it is the countries largest quake it would of course be a catastrophe. Everyone should keep them in their thoughts.
